Yspiration: Layovers

It’s happened. Your flight has a layover and you have to hang out at the airport for a couple of hours. It may sound boring and sometimes the worst thing, minutes stretching, seeming like hours and hours seeming like forever but there is some fun to this and we at The Y Life want to inspire you to get out of your comfort zone.

There are things to do and it doesn’t include being on your phone for hours!

Get a glimpse
Depending on how long your lay over is, you may be able to get a glimpse of the city you are in. Choose a site you are most interested in and go. Try and pick something not too far from the airport, just in case you get traffic on your way back. It’s not a full-fledged trip, but you may see something you like.

Take advantage of tax free
Are you running low on a certain perfume, make up, whiskey, nice chocolates? Any of these items, you can buy without taxes. It’s a great way to save a bit of cash while restocking as you wait for your flight. Don’t forget any gifts you might have missed!

Grab a bite
Look up the best places to grab a bite and go. Some airports actually have restaurants from renowned chefs so try to opt for those for a better, more unique dining experience. Besides, who likes airplane food anyway.

Take the train
Looking for a quick tour of the airport without the hassle of walking it? Or maybe you want to just look at the outside? Try the sky train or the tram, depending on what airport you’re at, it will be called something different. Use it to go to the other terminals. Who knows. You may find a nice coffee shop or bookstore.

Now this is only for those who don’t have crazy heavy luggage. This means a rolling suitcase and maybe your allowed personal item. You don’t want to be lugging stuff across the airport. Take on the task of exploring the airport. Visit a bookstore. Look around. It’s as simple as that.
