Y Memorial Day

Today is the Sunday before Memorial Day, a day to honor the lives of those who have served our country in an effort to keep America safe and free!

As I wore my patriotic garb today, I was constantly reminded about the sacrifices, which the soldiers and their families must make to keep us all out of harms way.

Then I saw images of soldiers placing flags on the tombs of soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery  and tears suddenly started etching their way down my cheek. I realized once again how high the stakes are for these men and women and I was touched, by their unwavering love for America.

Memorial Day is a legal holiday in the United States, which remembers the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.

YFact: Observed every year on the last Monday of May… Memorial Day originated as ‘Decoration Day’ after the American Civil War in 1868. Established during a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the Union war dead with flowers, Memorial Day has hence become a time followed tradition to share the loving hearts of those soldiers lost in battle.

The Y Life thanks you for your service and honors you for endangering your truth to protect the light shimmering through all Americans!

Be Proud, Be Kind, Be Lovable.. Be You!
