Researchers have now linked positive emotions especially the awe we feel, with lower levels of pro-inflammatory proteins called cytokines, according to a new study by UC Berkley.

These proteins actually signal your immune system to work harder which can be good and bad because very high levels of the protein in your body are harmful. Elevated levels have been associated with disorders like type-2 diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease and clinical depression.
