Meal on The Cheap

A big part of our generation is saving money..while also enjoying some good food.  This recipe is a great way to be healthy and eat something tasty without breaking the bank. It’s called the Caprese salad and it will take you 5 minutes and almost no money to make.

Caprese

What you need:

1 Tomato

About 5 Basil leaves or Use Dry  Basil to Save $$

1 Block of Mozarella

1 tablespoon of olive oil

1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar

1/2 teaspooon of salt

1/2 tablespoon of pepper.

 

What you do:

1. Cut the tomato by the top so you have round, 1/2 inch slices  of tomato. Lay then flat on a plate.

2. Cut slices of Mozzarella about 1/2 an inch thick. Cut as many slices as you have tomato slices. So if you have four  slices of tomato, cut four slices of Mozzarella. Lay a piece of Mozzarella on each tomato slice.

3. If you have dried basil, use about half a tablespoonful to condiment the whole dish. If you have fresh basil leaves, then lay a basil leaf slice on each slice of mozarella.

4. Condiment the dish with olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper.
