Benefits of Your Daily Grind

My cup of Joe

My cup of Joe

So it’s only the second day of the week and you already feel a bit tired. You grab another cup of joe to help pull you through the rest of the work day but it may be doing more than getting you through the week. Take a look.

1. Caffeine may make you smarter

According to Women’s Health Magazine,  it improves cognitive functions by blocking a chemical in the brain which slows down our thought process and makes us want to sleep.

2. It makes your work out better

Not only does it stimulate the brain. It also stimulates your work out performance. An extra cup of joe may mean a kick for your workout while also acting as a mild analgesic so you don’t feel as sore so fast.

3. It protects your skin

Coffee is a great source for antioxidants which help fight free radicals in the body which cause aging! So that daily cup, is helping your skin look younger. Coffee also helps prevent a form of skin cancer. A study in the journal of Cancer Research showed coffee drinkers were less likely to develop basal cell carcinoma.

4. It’s good for your mental health

People who drink four or more cups of coffee a day were 10% less likely to become depressed than those who didn’t drink coffee , according to a study by the National Institutes of Health and the AARP. So your daily dose may be helping you stay happy. It also helps protect your mind in the longterm. According to a study in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, says coffee drinkers are less likely to develop Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

5.You may live longer

A large scale study published in the New England Journal of Medicine shows your cups may help you live longer. Now, it’s not clear what coffee has to do with someone living longer but the correlation is significant. Women who drank two or three cups of coffee a day had 13% less risk of dying during the study, while men who drank the same amount were 10% less likely to die.

Here’s to drinking for our health.
